The Chopin International Piano Competitions one of the most important piano contests. This competition takes place in Warsaw, every 5 years, since the year 1927. Its intention is to propagate and confront the modern styles of Chopin's music. Majority of the prize-winners of the Chopin Competition are to be found among the most famous pianists of the world.
On October 1995 the National Bank of Poland put into circulation the 200 zł gold coin on the occasion of the 13th Chopin International Piano Competition. The gold coins will be available at the counters of NBP branch offices (among the others in Warsaw, Plac Powstańców Warszawy 4).
